About Focal Therapy Finder
Focal Therapy Finder helps men with prostate cancer find doctors who offer focal therapy, starting with irreversible electroporation (IRE, known as NanoKnife®).
Why it exists
Focal therapy treats only the part of the prostate that holds the tumour. For some men with localised prostate cancer it is an alternative to removing or irradiating the whole gland. Few doctors offer it, and they are spread across many hospitals, private practices and countries.
Men researching focal therapy say on patient forums that they can't find a doctor who offers it, or only find one by chance. Some of the doctors who perform it are interventional radiologists rather than urologists, so they don't show up where patients look first. The manufacturer's own locator covers the United States and Canada only.
This directory brings those doctors together in one place: 226 listings in 22 countries, each with its address, phone number, website, the treatments it offers, any clinical trials it takes part in, and the public source that confirms it.
What the directory is
- A directory: it lists doctors and clinics on the evidence of public sources. It does not recommend or rank any doctor or treatment.
- Free for patients, with no sign-up.
- Free for clinics to be listed. Some clinics pay to be featured; featured listings are labelled "Sponsored".
- Independent of device manufacturers, including AngioDynamics, maker of the NanoKnife System.
- Not medical advice. Whether focal therapy suits you depends on your scans, biopsy and history, and only a doctor who has reviewed them can say.
